Our 2021-2022 International Service Director, Chris Gates
Retired in 2015, Chris spent more than 40 years in a variety of positions in municipal government, Provincial government, the oil and gas industry, and as a private consultant. Chris holds a Master's Degree in Environmental Studies from York University. Some highlights of Chris' career are:

1982-1988 Energy Conservation Program Advisor, Ontario Ministry of Energy
1989-1998 Senior Consultant, Renewable Energy In Canada (REIC) Limited
1998-2001 Program Manager, Demand-Side Management, Enbridge Gas Distribution
2001-2008 Manager, Sustainable Energy, Enbridge Gas Distribution
2008-2015 Senior Manager, Climate Change Policy, Office of the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario
Chris joined our club in 2019 and jumped right in with both feet, and with assistance from some of our senior members, has become our club historian.
Chris and his wife Barbara were married in Nairobi Kenya, on Chris' birthday in 1986, and they have 2 children, Geoff and Katrina. Chris and Barbara split their time between thei home in Quinte West and cottage in Haliburton. Chris ran his first marathon in Ottawa in 2001 and has since run over 30 marathons including the Boston Marathon 10 times.
