Message From The President

Greetings from the Rotary Club of Trenton!  Please take some time to browse through our website, learn more about our club and see what our members are doing – both locally and internationally.  Once you do, I think you will see that we are “People of Action”.  If you have any questions just send me an e-mail.
If you’re interested in getting more involved in our community, making new friends and having some fun, the Rotary Club of Trenton might be just what you’re looking for.

Rotary is the largest service club in the world, consisting of approximately 1.2 million volunteers in over 200 countries.  Rotary is where neighbours, friends and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders and take-action to create lasting change.  Through Rotary clubs, people from all continents and cultures come together to exchange ideas, and form friendships and professional connections while making a difference in their backyards and around the world.
You may be aware of some of the contributions and events organized by our club:
  • The annual Surf & Turf, at the National Air Force Museum of Canada
  • The Wilf Wilkinson Community Golf Classic
  • Sponsoring the annual Phil Panelas BBQ in support of staff, volunteers and donors to the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation
  • Our major President’s Legacy Project which will be unveiled later in 2018
You may also have seen the Rotary logo associated with countless other events and activities.  But what you probably haven’t seen are the myriad community projects we support:
  • Greening the Greenbelt shoreline habitat project with Lower Trent Conservation
  • Youth Spelling Bee and Music Festival
  • TMHF Banker’s Bed Races
  • Assistance with funding of local youth centres
  • EarlyAct clubs at Murray Centennial and Stockdale Public Schools
  • Support for countless other projects and organizations that help and improve our community.
If helping others on the international level interests you, Rotary is also the place to be!  Our club annually provides funding in support of an international project in literacy project Ethiopia, and works to support ShelterBox Canada, in their disaster relief efforts.
Fellowship and fun is also important, which is why we have so many fellowship events every year where we interact and just have some fun with fellow Rotarians.  Whether it’s golfing with the President, SeptemberFest, Breakfast and Bows or just friendly get-togethers: Rotary is a great way to meet new friends and get together with existing ones.
I’ve only scratched the surface of what we do.  So, if you want to help others, make new friends and get more involved in our community, please contact me and you can join us as our guest at one of our weekly meetings.

Surf and Turf Success

Fun, Funds, Fellowship

Were you there on Friday April 27th 2018?  If you were you would agree that this years Surf and Turf was the best so far!  With the Rotary Club of Trenton's biggest fundraiser  held at the incredible Canadian Airforce Museum, the atmosphere was spectacular.  Sparkling lights, enhanced the glow of the translucent Rotary blue table clothes that were reflected in the spring like yellow flower center pieces.  The aroma of the prime rib cooking greeted you at the entrance but was out done by the taste of the beef alongside the succulent lobster tails and the many accompaniments.  The silent auction gave opportunities for everyone to contribute to the the giving.  Don't miss next years event.....and enjoy the pictures.

Rotarian Style Serving

Where do you find Rotarians doing good in the world?  Well, all around the world of course.  But on one cold afternoon in Quinte West, Trenton Rotarians served those in need and held their lunch meeting at the Salvation Army Community Family Church.   Trenton Rotary Club raises money in the community to give it back to the community where it's needed.   But raising money isn't all Rotarians do.  They give from their pocket books, heart and hands.  This was a special day for Rotarians to be visible and helpful directly in the community in which they work, live and play.  A wonderful meal was made, served and cleaned up after.  Rotarians had the honor of sharing a meal with each other along side community members who appreciate the valuable service provided by the Salvation Army Community and Family Services centre.

Rotary green...

The Trenton Greenbelt Conservation Area is getting a whole lot greener.

On Saturday members of the Lower Trent Conservation and the Rotary Club of Trenton were joined by volunteers through the Highway of Heroes Living Tribute for the ‘Greening the Greenbelt’ Shoreline Habitat Project to plant 370 trees as well as 240 wildflowers along the shoreline of the Trent River.

The funds for the project were provided to Lower Trent Conservation in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Trenton from a provincial grant under the Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund.

The amount received for the shoreline habitat enhancement was $17,053.

2nd place for Rotary in FireFit Corporate Challenge

Rotary Club of Trenton was so proud of our Rotarians, Dr. Gord Bunt, Noelle Bunt, Kris Himberg-Larsen , PP Tim Weaver and PP Chris King. Kris was tasked with carrying 47 kg equipment on his shoulder up 4 flights of stairs. On top of the stairs, Gord was pulling up 45 kg equipment; then Kris had to run all the way back on the stairs touching every single step. Tim was beating something in place and then running like crazy around circuit to pass the torch to Noel, who had to pull 100lbs of water hose across the field. And then Chris King has to run backwards with 175 lb mannequin to hit to finish line. The weather was very hot and humid, but our team has done it.

Frankford Youth Centre Gives!

Frank Meiboom see's value in in giving our youth a place to feel wanted, valued and cared for.  As a member of the Rotary Club of Trenton (and incoming president for the Rotary year 2018/2019) Frank is obviously dedicated to helping his community.  Frank is not only an active member of Trenton Rotary, but he's served on the board of directors of the Frankford Youth centre for five years.  His passion for ensuring the young people in the community have a solid foundation to strengthen their resilience and life learning skills was evident as he provided members of our club with an opportunity to see and learn about the achievements and successes of this community organization.

2017 Surf & Turf Fundraiser

Posted by Deb Murray on May 08, 2017

From Sea and Land to the Community

It was a specular evening!  Fun, fellowship and WOW - Fundraising.  Yes, the Rotary Club or Trenton did it again.  The community came together to enjoy an evening of fantastic food prepared specially by Dewmill Events.  Sweet, hot lobster tails, perfectly cooked prime rib, salads and more.  Eating all you could came only second to giving back to the community through the many opportunities to share.  50/50 draw, roses full of $50 bills, and a silent auction with something for everyone.  The live auction created a fun and frolicking atmosphere and I'm sure who ever won the day with the firefighters is surely pleased! The tables were dressed in Rotary fashion all decorated in yellow and blue.  It was a casual night that formally gives our community something more.  All money raised through this annual event goes through the Rotary Club of Trenton and directly to local community needs.
